Say, you have a harddisk which previously held some prescious data but now when you look, there is no partition information anymore! Where is my data? The reasen why your partitiontable is gone could be anything. I happend to expierience this once when I inserted a XP install cd. This is what I did.rescuept
What tools for recovering your partitiontable are available? I first tried gpart but this didn't do it for me. With information from the gpart site I found two other programs; fixdisktable and rescuept. rescuept worked for me, it printed very nice all sectors of al partitions I used to have. Next step was to use fdisk (with the -u option to input sector information) to enter all the partitions. more info about rescuept: README rescuept I saved a copy of rescuept rescuept
